Tour de Giant

wow. i didn’t update my blog for almost a month. I wonder if there were readers out there that actually waited for my next post..haha.
Do you remember Nathan Sawaya? I made a post about his works quite a while back. This time he made an oversized replica of Blackberry 9360 a.k.a Blackberry Tour with an actual working LCD screen.
Nothing special or extraordinary, i just think this artwork is a giant statue of a thing that we can’t live without anymore (well at least for me).

Appledots

Comme des Garcons made a capsule collection with *gasp* The Beatles, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. The collection was launched in Tokyo on November 20th 2009. The apples that you can see literally splattering everywhere refers to Apple Corps Ltd., the London-based company that manages the legacy and musical catalogue of the British band. While the polkadots are Rei Kawakubo’s favorite pattern.
The collection consists of bags, shirts, and t-shirts. The bags are quite cool, with CDG’s simple design as always. The black bag above is called the Beatles CDG Boat Bag, retailing about USD 500.

One thing that bothers me a little is the price. The above travel bag retails around USD 730, a normal price for a designer leather bag. The problem is, all CDG/Beatles bags were made of embossed polyurethane or printed PVC.

Above : Beatles CDG Giant Tote, USD 706. Below : Beatles CDG Working Lady Bag, USD 760.

The shirts, well, definitely not my kind of thing. Black and white shirts crammed with polkadots and apples, too busy. I still wonder who would be able to pull off this look..hmm.. Talking about shirts, I have a polkadot Comme des Garcons shirt that i haven’t wear. I’ll post the picture after this post and you’ll know why :p

The only thing that really caught my attention and really really calling out to my wallet are the t-shirts (USD 110-130). The design is simple with just the right amount of polkadots and apples hahaha. Finally, something i won’t mind wearing. Anybody in London get me these, please?

Grab these from Dover Street Market.

Stop Telephonin’ me eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh
I need help. The speaker in my home telephone is broken so I can’t hear anything from the caller. It has been several months but my home phone rings only once in a few days so I don’t really give a damn.
Talking about telephone, I’ve always wanted one from Bang & Olufsen. I still remember when I was a kid I would go inside their store at Plaza Senayan dying to have what i recognized as the most elegant and futuristic telephone design.

BeoCom 2, I think it looks like a banana.

BeoCom 1401, the only corded telephone from B&O. Classic!

BeoCom 4, simplicity at its best.

BeoCom 6000, my favorite. I love the pyramid stand.

BeoCom 5, comes with a speaker.
So, which one is your favorite?
Mulleavy Madness

Gorgeous isn’t it? (the sweater, not the boy)
That is a hand-knitted 57% superkid mohair, 10% alpaca, 6% nylon, 6% wool, 5% polyester, 5% metal polyester, 5% silk, 3% viscose, 3% rayon Rodarte sweater. That’s right guys, 9 materials to make this beautiful artwork.

In case you don’t know, Rodarte is an American high-end fashion brand by the Mulleavy sisters Kate and Laura. It is a highly coveted brand and it got many great reviews from upscale fashion magazines. Rodarte is known for it’s distressed look and the genius usage of materials. Not to mention the intricate hand-made dresses.

Just how beautiful is this cardigan!

The only thing that disturbs me a little is, all these amazing sweaters and cardigans come with a USD $ 2760 price tag!!! I know they’re hand-knitted with many materials and stuff but 2760? You’re kidding me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against high-fashion that comes with high price and everything, but if you could just cut down the price a little it would be somewhat more sane and logical. I love you Mulleavy sisters, please send me one of your sweaters. Thank you.
